Job Opportunities


                         
The Nigeria Indigenous Capacity Building (NICaB) is a President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funded project through the U.S. Agency for International Development.  The project is managed by the Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) in collaboration with Management Sciences for Health. The project commenced in October 2007 and at present has a one year extension which ends in March 2012.  The Project has the following vacancies:
Job Title: Grants Officer, Abuja
Overall Responsibilities
The Grants Officer will manage and coordinate CHAN NICaB’s complex grants portfolio lending to a variety of NGOs and faith based organizations in order to strengthen health systems and improve health service delivery in six states. S/he will work closely with the F&A Manager to and follow a transparent process for implementing the grants management cycle and build the capacity of grantees in financial management. The position includes opportunities for professional development in grants management. The Grants Officer must be available to travel up to 50% of the time, including the Niger Delta Region.
Person Specification
BSc/HND in accounting or other related fields.  At least 3 years relevant experience, especially with either PEPFAR or USAID funded projects. Ability to work in a collaborative manner.    Computer skills, including word and excel.  Strong writing, analytical, organizational, financial and management skills. Mature judgment, professional integrity and ethical standards is mandatory.

Community Care Specialist (CCS)
Overall Responsibilities
The Community Care Specialist shall provide technical input to strengthen community services and a create seamless link with clinic based TB and comprehensive HIV/AIDS services.   S/he shall take lead in building the capacity of community service providers (CBOs, PLWHA, volunteers etc) to address stigma issues and provide community and home based care, referrals, and community PMTCT services. S/he shall also ensure provision of technical, financial, M&E and administrative support to the CSOs implementing small grants so they achieve desired project goals. S/he will also liaise with the M&E Specialist to ensure reporting, verification and analysis of community data. S/he shall assist project local representives at state level on matters of community HIV services and network with other State Government, CSO and community partners in the State to establish a functional referral system for clients between clinical and community-based HIV/AIDS services.
Person Specification
Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing/midwifery or related discipline with at least 3 years senior level work experience in health program management. Proven hands-on programmatic, technical and managerial expertise in provision of community HIV/AIDS services and developing and nurturing partnerships with local FBOs and CBOs. Experience working with PLWHA is mandatory. Demonstrated excellent understanding of the continuum of care for HIV infected individuals and be willing to multi-task for several services. Experience in community organization and working as a community facilitator is mandatory.

Accounts Officer
Overall responsibilities
The Accounts Officer shall be responsible for processing of all payments to and from CHAN-NICaB and maintains all books of accounts, he/she will monitor all staff loans and advances and collect monthly bank statements and making bank reconciliations. The candidate should be able to prepare postings from source documents to the computer and produce all accounting reports and statements.
Person Specification
A degree in Accounting or any related field with at least 2 years work experience particularly with an NGO, the knowledge of Tally ERP 9 Accounting Package will be an added advantage.
